Wheel Balancing
Drive smoothly and safely at high speed.

What Does Wheel Balancing Mean?
Wheel balancing is the process of equalising the weight of the combined tyre and wheel assembly so that it rotates smoothly at high speed as you drive your car. Every time you purchase a new tyre and have it fitted by an LTS centre, your new tyre will be balanced and fitted
Why Wheel Balancing is Important
Balancing is important as all wheels lose their balance over time. Wheel balancing helps to ensure that the weight of the wheel is ‘even’ when it turns. Every time a new tyre is mounted onto an axle, the wheel should be re balanced to ensure it continues to rotate evenly.
The first sign that your wheels may be out of balance:
- The steering wheel vibrates above a certain speed
- Uneven tyre wear
Wheels can be balanced on a special balancing machine which is available at all LTS centres. This machine rotates the tyre and wheel assembly, automatically detecting even the tiniest of differences in weight across the wheel. The balancing machine then pinpoints the exact position where a ‘balance counter weight’ should be applied. These counter weights come in all different sizes. The size of the weight applied will be dependent upon the level of the imbalance.

The Benefits of Wheel Balancing
By having your car wheels properly balanced will benefit you in a number of ways:
A smoother, more comfortable ride
Enhanced drive train components
Reduced tread and general tyre wear
